Mikkel Rønnow Musicals has recently developed and presented two world premieres: She Loves You with music by Lennon McCartney (Tivoli 2022) and Margrethe (The Royal Danish Theatre 2023). We have also been behind the successful revival of the greatest Danish musical hit of all time Atlantis (Tivoli 2021) and Chess (Tivoli 2018).
As a producer, Mikkel Rønnow has been behind successful musical productions in Denmark for over 30 years, most recently Margrethe at Det Kgl. Theater and Atlantis in Tivoli Concert Hall. Mikkel Rønnow has produced five productions of Chess, the most recent of which in 2018 became the best reviewed musical in Tivoli ever. Other great musicals include David Bowie’s Lazarus with Aarhus Theatre and The Royal Danish Theatre, Made in Aarhus, My Fair Lady and Grease. Together with Stig Rossen, Mikkel Rønnow produced major productions of Chess, Copacabana and Les Misérables at Falconer Salen and on tour in Denmark. As chief producer at Aarhus Theatre, Mikkel Rønnow was behind a large number of plays and musical theater, including the Reumert-winning theater concert Leonard Cohen. In addition to being a producer, Mikkel Rønnow has an extensive career as a conductor, and in this capacity has conducted musicals such as Sweeney Todd, La Cage Aux Folles, Cabaret and Chess at Aarhus Theatre, Candide at Funen Opera, Chess at Fredericia Theatre, West Side Story at Musikhuset Aarhus and on DR P2 as well as Denmark tours of Les Misérables, My Fair Lady, Copacabana, Grease, Made in Aarhus and the concert tours I Love Musicals and I Love Musicals 2. He has released and conducted musical CDs with Odense Symphony Orchestra, City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and English and Danish studio orchestras on his own record label.
