As a producer for over 30 years, Mikkel Rønnow has been the driving force behind successful musical productions in Denmark, most recently Chess at Det Ny Teater, Margrethe at The Royal Danish Theatre, and Atlantis at the Tivoli Concert Hall.

In 2026, he conducted the Odense Symphony Orchestra for the presentation of 70 minutes of music from ANDERSEN – a new Danish musical about the life and fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, set to make its world premiere in 2028.

Mikkel Rønnow serves as musical director for American singer Stella Cole during her tours of Scandinavia and England.

In collaboration with Stig Rossen from 2001 to 2004, Mikkel Rønnow produced major stagings of Chess, Copacabana and Les Miserables med West End skuespillere i hovedrollerne.

Mikkel Rønnow has a special relationship with the musical CHESS, which he has produced six times between 1995 and 2025, conducted for over 300 performances, and released on three different cast albums. Furthermore, he has invested in the latest Broadway revival and its subsequent Broadway cast recording.

Other musicals include the critically acclaimed productions of My Fair Lady, Grease, David Bowie’s musical LAZARUS (co-produced with The Royal Danish Theatre and Aarhus Teater), the Lennon & McCartney musical SHE LOVES YOU, the concert tours I Love Musicals and I Love Musicals 2 as well as the theater concert Made in Aarhus.

For four years, Mikkel Rønnow served as senior producer at Aarhus Teater, where he was behind a wide range of plays and musical theater, including the Reumert Award-winning theater concert LEONARD COHEN. Furthermore, he produced the inaugural COPENHAGEN OPERA FESTIVAL in 2009 and acted as creative producer for One And Only’s biggest success, DIRTY DANCING.

Alongside his work as a producer, Mikkel Rønnow enjoys an extensive career as a musical director. In this capacity, he has conducted musicals such as SWEENEY TODD, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, CABARET, and CHESS at Aarhus Teater; CANDIDE at Den Fynske Opera; CHESS at Fredericia Teater; and WEST SIDE STORY at Musikhuset Aarhus and on DR P2. He has also conducted his own national tours of Les Misérables, My Fair Lady, Copacabana, Grease, ATLANTIS, SHE LOVES YOU and MARGRETHE.

Through his own record label, he has released and conducted eight musical albums, featuring orchestras such as The Odense Symphony Ochestra, City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra , as well as complete cast recordings of CHESS and ATLANTIS.
